My personal story

Faith, Freedom and Joy

I came to know Jesus at the age of 25. For 11 years now, God has been graciously leading me on a journey of knowing His freedom and what that looks like in different areas of my life. I was in a church for six years that heavily relied on 'works' and had a huge element of control within its leadership. Since I left, the Jesus I know how and His character is vastly different to how I knew Him when in this church.

One of my passions is helping Christians walk in the freedom Jesus died for. From personal experience, I know what is it like to have a relationship with Jesus and yet still be bound and missing huge areas of His true character. The freedom that I walk in today is truly one of grace, and I strive to know more of it everyday.

I have also struggled with my mental health through different seasons in my life, which has been the result of past trauma. Dealing with this, and knowing Jesus through it all, has given me such hope in the midst of my darkest hours. This, however, doesn't mean I haven't struggled and gone to the deepest darkest parts of myself. There can be a misconception; that if you know Jesus you shouldn't have to struggle with anything if you just believe in His transforming power. This is a load of nonsense! This belief completely invalidates every feeling and experience you my have and stops you from being able to process experiences and/or traumas healthily.

My passion is to help bring awareness to the struggles people can have without judgement and with a whole lot of empathy. If you have your own experience or not, my prayer is that what I write will encourage you yourself, or equip you as how to help the people around you that maybe suffering.

Thank you for taking the time to read and listen.

God bless your journey,

Harriet Joy
